I Stand For UNITY

Declaration

FOR (Friends of Reconciliation, Inc.), is committed to the work of personal growth that will aid in racial healing and reconciliation. Racial reconciliation is the act of building social trust between people of different ethnic backgrounds who are strained by fear, mistrust and division. FOR believes that in order to create the standard of unity in America, we must be louder about the virtues that we stand for.

Therefore, as a friend of reconciliation, I stand FOR the following virtues:

LOVE- I have a heartfelt connection and a great appreciation towards all of mankind. See John 15:12

JUSTICE- I know that every human life deserves to be defended and treated with dignity. See 2 Samuel 23:3-4

FORGIVENESS- I choose to release resentment towards others and/or myself for the offense(s) that have been committed. See Matthew 6:12 and 1 John 1:9

REPENTANCE- I believe that a changed heart and mind must bear evidence of transformation. See Matthew 3:8 and Matthew Chapter 7:15-20

REDEMPTION- I believe that every person can change their life if they are willing. See Colossians 1:10-14

UNITY- I believe that my family, community and nation are stronger when we join in oneness towards a common goal. See 1 Corinthians 1:10

EQUITY AND EQUALITY- I believe that all citizens deserve to be positioned to succeed and thrive. See Isaiah 61:1-4 and Psalm 67:4

IMPARTIALITY- As Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. dreamed, I will not judge a person by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. See Jeremiah 17:10

I commit to uphold these virtues in my conversations and in my treatment towards others. I believe that my greatest contribution towards racial healing is my commitment to become a more loving human being.

"After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands."

Revelation 7:9

FAQ's

What is a friend of reconciliation?

A friend of reconciliation supports our mission to help America reach racial reconciliation in our lifetime by living in agreement with the virtues listed in the "I Stand For Unity" declaration.

As friends of reconciliation, we love others by treating them the way we want to be treated. We commit to personal growth in Jesus Christ so that we are empowered to shine His Light and hope for redemption in our dark world.

It is important for our friends to speak louder about what we stand for, than what we are against, as we also raise awareness for the need of racial healing.
